On this lovely Saturday evening, I tried replicating my mother’s fried green tomatoes. They didn’t come out exactly the same, but close enough to hit the spot. Comfort food at its best. Wish me luck as I dive in …

I think I feel a stomach ache coming on.
Those are a real thing?
Oh yes. And delicious to boot! I prefer them plain, dipped in flour and fried. But I’ve seen some of the “fancier” restaurants serve them with crabmeat, cheese, and/or all kinds of seasonings. To me, those aren’t fried green tomatoes … they’re just a dish that uses them. I prefer mine plain. I think my mom eats them on bread, but I wouldn’t swear to that. I know some people do. I just eat them right off the plate. 😀
Looks delicious!
When you’re done with your stomach ache, do you look more like Kathy Bates, Mary-Louise Parker, Mary Stuart Masterson, or Jessica Tandy? :))
I wish I could eat them.
The first time I sat down to this dish at our local spot, the Dinosaur BarBQue, the very first slice of Fried Green Tomato I popped into my mouth latched onto the roof of my mouth. The piping hot sphere left me with a lasting impression, Wendy. Yowza. Yours look fantastic.
Yummm
Yummm is right. I’ve never had them but they look delicious.
I want some, too. They look really good.
oh god! you are truly a Goddess if you can make these.
My only problem is in sharing … 😜
I’ll bring the French Rose’ 😉
