A Heart Broken

My heart is broken. Rufus the Invincible is gone. And the irony has not escaped me that the one little soul that would succeed in bringing a smile to my face in this time of indescribable sadness, is the one little soul that has caused me such anguish in its passing.  No amount of love or strength of resolve could fight Father Time or worsening health issues.  If only it were that easy.

  1. I feel you, I’d lost my two dogs too to cancer, and it was really hard to cope at the start of their deaths, but eventually, after you had mourned for what you’d list in them, you will then, think of your pet and, smile at yhe moments of wonder the two of you, shared, and that, is what will, stay with you.

  2. I too am currently going through this pain.

    My heart broke into pieces
The day you got your wings
    Everything around me ceases
Even the birds refuse to sing.
You were more than a pet
    More than my best friend
And one thing you can bet,
    I will see you again.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All of the animals who had been ill and old are restored to heath and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again. Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Their bright eyes are intent. Their eager body quivers. Suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet. So long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

  3. I’m so very, very, very sorry. I wish love and hugs could help, but nothing really can. Thinking about you. So very sorry. Another beautiful spark has gone out.
