About Me

The focus here is not telling you about who I am, but rather relating with you through the communication of experiences and emotions. I read that on a motivational poster while sitting in the H.R. office (hey, don’t ask). Thought it was catchy. Anyway, I have a feeling it’s going to be quite a roller-coaster ride. One day I may write about the perils of workplace training or wax poetic about animal advocacy and then seamlessly shift to a dissertation on the glowing merits of Despicable Me.  After that maybe an exuberant rant on a newly discovered cheap chardonnay you would swear Trader Joe’s paid me to write. That might be followed up with a trip up, over, around, and down the ol’ family tree where I expose my roots which could lead into recalling a disastrous hair dyeing fiasco where I tried to hide my roots. Ha! See what I did there? Nice pun, right?

My family of course provides much of the inspiration and will probably be discussed way more than they would like.  That should be fun.

My main hope is that you dip, swerve, and zigzag enthusiastically in your enjoyment.  I invite you to laugh at my blunders, empathize with my yearnings, become prone to fits of welcome nostalgia, leave the page with a sense of warmth, and return when you need to be in touch with a friend.

Let’s go on an adventure, shall we?

welcome to my mind

  1. You’ll figure it out as your blog unfolds. As for your vegan interest…suggest you eliminate one animal meat at a time and eventually you will find that meat does not appeal to you. I have been a vegetarian for about 25 years now…I don’t eat meat or poultry, but I do eat fish and eggs occasionally. There are many types of vegans today…choose what works for you and don’t stress about it…let it happen. Thanks for visiting and following my blog.

  2. Hi Wendy! Thank you so much for the follow in my blog. Read your about me section and decided to follow you as well. I enjoyed what you had to say about you and your blog. 🙂

  3. Hello newest Spikey! I know, a bit corny, eh, but that’s the term that has come to stick for those folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

My aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations on life as I see it, thrown in for good measure.

My promise to you is not to be overbearing, just a couple of posts a day, maybe 3 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

  4. Hi Wendy, thanks for the follow! I’ll be taking a look around yours soon (it’s a bit late right now) — so far, your about page is pretty interesting all by itself!

  5. Hi, Wendy — Thank you for following WordBowlbyMsCharlieS.com and introducing me to your roller coaster of a blog (I am in complete agreement re: vampires…). Looking forward to more!

  6. Hi Wendy, thanks for visiting my blog! I look forward to following your posts and appreciated your open, heartfelt introduction to readers. Looking forward to chatting with you!

    • I am thrilled to meet a fellow, dare I say obsessed, bibliophile! I love absolutely everything about books, from the story (obviously) to the feel of the pages to the comfort they bring me when I’m trying to relax, and I’m looking forward to reading through your reviews!

  7. Hi Wendy, thanks for following my blog. I am somewhat the same, my blog posts are sometimes all over the place, but always from unique perspective about art, life, and hope. I look forward to your following your posts also!

  8. Thank you for the follow, Wendy. I came and rooted around in your posts, and have already found many that I really enjoyed. I look forward to poking around some more!
    🙂

  9. Happy to be here Wendy and I will surely read more soon. My philosophy would say that “trying” to be anything, a vegetarian in this case, will never work. One must want to be a vegetarian, choose to do so and act like a vegetarian! I am a vegetarian myself since three years now and I must say that I enjoy life much better now.

About four to six months after I quit eating meat I began, slowly but surely, to have more energy, feel more supple in my joints and body as a whole, and although it sounds a bit ‘yuk’ to some people, my sweat is smelling much nicer now! .. Seriously, it does!
I have a lot of amazing recipes which I cook on a regular basis, so if you need moral support, shout out :)!

Furthermore, shall we move to Ireland together? I am a carpenter you know, and I walked the Wicklow Way, I know nice places…

    • I appreciate the moral support! I say “trying” because while I’m being successful on not eating meat, I still crave it. I won’t consider myself successful until I can stop the cravings altogether. I would love to have some recipes — I love to cook and have been trying new things lately. And hell yes, let’s move to Ireland! : )

  10. Hi Wendy!

What a pleasant surprise to have a “New Follower” message pop-up not long after I posted a rant about “Spam Followers” and find out you’re a real, live human being! 🙂 So thank you for choosing to follow my blog!

I just did a quick tour through some of your posts and am loving what I see. Your Facebook one is spot on and gave me a good chuckle.

I’m going to follow you as well and look forward to digging through your musings. 🙂 Take care.

  11. Hi Wendy, Just read your About and can assure you that you’ll find blogging very rewarding, even if you’re not sure where you’re headed. Don’t forget your faith and your husband. They usually provide great inspiration for bloggers to write about. God bless and happy blogging. Thank you for following my blog.

    • It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be! I mean cutting out the meat was okay, I could do that, but it’s the cravings that drive me nuts. I guess like with anything, that will ease up over time. I’m really glad to be on this new eating path though.

  12. You know you’ll end up much healthier, Wendy ? – PROVIDED that you take your B12 to replace the meat our bodies have accustomized themselves to …

  13. Hello Wendy,
Wanted to come say Thank You for stopping by my blog 🙂
I’m very blessed for the Internet and to find others in Cyber Space as I suffer from Panic with Agoraphobia and Bipolar Depression, so getting out the front door is a very big fear & challenge at times for me. I’m enjoying exploring and reading you posts! I’m now following! I have 2 blogs, one for Recovery and One as my Author/Writers Blog. Nice to meet you….
    Hugs & Blessings
    *Catherine* 🙂

  14. Thanks for following thinkdreamdo. I too have a blog-of-all-trades and I hope you enjoy the random ramblings you find there. Best wishes in your blogging journey! And I’d also like to live in Ireland! 🙂

    • I just saw this comment and I truly, truly apologize for not responding sooner! I feel horrible. Thank you so much for the nomination! I’m keeping my blog “awards free,” but it means a great deal to me that you would think enough of me to nominate me for this particular award. Thank you so much!

  15. Yo, Wendy. Good morning this first or second day of spring. Ha! I nominated you for the Liebster Award today. I don’t know if you participate in the WordPress Award process or not. If so, have fun! If not, please accept this as a sign of my respect for your talent and appreciation of our friendship. Here’s the link to my post. Have a great weekend. Who will make us mad today, my friend? — Mark

  16. It sure doesn’t seem like spring, at least not here! Thank you so much for nominating me! I’m keeping my blog “awards free,” but to have you nominate me for any award means a great deal because I truly respect your writing and your opinion. So in my humblest voice, thank you.
